How to Replace the Tensioner on a Volkswagen Jetta?

To replace the tensioner on your Volkswagen Jetta, lift the car with a jack or ramp so that the front wheels are off the ground. This will allow you to loosen the screws securing the right front wheel and the corresponding wheel arch, enabling you to locate the tensioner next to the engine block. Remove it from its housing by loosening the screws and sliding off the belt, allowing you to insert the new replacement part. The new tensioner must be installed to properly tension the belt again.
