Instructions for Replacing the Auxiliary Belt

Model: Volkswagen Jetta MK 5, A5 - Years 2005-2010

This car model actually has two auxiliary belts: one dedicated solely to the air conditioning compressor and the other that drives the alternator and power steering pump. Before proceeding with the removal, it is advisable to take note of the routing of the belts around the pulleys, perhaps with a sketch or a photo. Start with the compressor belt by loosening the relevant tensioner, which can be accessed through the wheel arch. For the other belt, you can access it from the engine bay to loosen the tensioner and slide it off. You will proceed in reverse for the installation of the two new belts.
