It often happens that the continuous movements of the gear lever can deteriorate the gaiter, causing it to crack and eventually tear, not to mention the damage caused by some car wash detergents; replacing the original gaiter with one made of genuine leather will solve the problem permanently; this is a spare part that is easily available in the aftermarket and at relatively low costs; to remove the gaiter from the gear lever, pull the frame at the base to detach it, lift the gaiter and open the metal clip at the base of the knob; at this point, extract the bush that holds the gaiter in place to separate it from the knob and remove the metal clips that secure the gaiter to the frame.
