How to Remove the Gear Shift Gaiter on a Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

Before you can begin, sit in the driver's seat of your Volkswagen Golf. Start by unclipping the base of the gear shift gaiter using a flat screwdriver. Then, lift the gaiter as high as possible. By doing this, you will reach the clip that secures the gaiter to the gear lever. Proceed to unclip this clip. At this point, you can lift and remove the gaiter along with the gear knob. Once you have completed this step, pull the gear knob off the gaiter, and you will have finished the disassembly.
