In this tutorial, you will learn how to replace the boot lock on a Volkswagen Golf, a very simple and quick operation. First, open the tailgate, then using a plastic trim tool to avoid leaving any marks, carefully pry off the inner panel around the perimeter.

Next, disconnect the lock release mechanism, unscrew the two securing bolts using an 8mm star socket, and separate the lock from the support. At this point, you can position the replacement part and follow the reverse procedure.
