After changing the engine oil in the Volkswagen Passat, you need to reset the module that alerts you with a message on the instrument display about the need for this important maintenance operation. While seated in the driver's seat, press and hold the button with a spanner icon located under the speedometer; turn on the ignition, wait a few seconds, and release the button.

Briefly press the button under the rev counter and turn off the ignition. Upon the next restart, the absence of the message will confirm the reset.
