How do you replace the fuel door actuator on the Volkswagen Golf?

In order to replace the fuel filler flap actuator on the Volkswagen Golf, you need to open the rear hatch so that you can remove the side trim of the trunk corresponding to the flap. Once this panel has been removed, along with the appropriate screws, you can locate the fuel filler flap actuator. This can be removed from its housing by unscrewing the screws and disconnecting the connectors, in order to insert the new piece. This can then be fixed in place and properly connected.
