The Volvo FH12 truck is a vehicle designed for heavy transport, and its manual gearbox is a beast from another era, built to last over a million kilometers if properly maintained. It is a synchronized gearbox with 12 gears + 4 reduced gears, with long ratios optimized for heavy loads and high torques, up to 2,500 Nm. It has a double clutch to change gears while limiting jerks. It is essential to use original Volvo oil to limit wear on the synchronizers; if we hear unusual noises coming from the gearbox, it could be due to worn bearings or damaged gears.
