Replacing Your Car's Wheel Bearings

Typically, replacing your car's wheel bearings is not a DIY task. However, if you have good mechanical skills, you can avoid going to a mechanic and spending a lot of money. The following guide shows how to change the bearings without professional help. First, ensure the vehicle is parked in a stable and safe position. Then, lift the car with a jack, loosen the wheel bolts, and remove the brake caliper using a socket wrench or screwdriver. Once the caliper is removed, take off the dust cover, which can be metal or plastic depending on the vehicle. Inside, you'll find a retaining clip that needs to be unscrewed with pliers or even a pair of wire cutters, which can also help remove the seal. After completing these steps, install the new bearings, making sure they are properly aligned.
