Replacing Engine Oil and Filter

Replacing the engine oil and its filter is typical maintenance that you can do yourself, provided you dispose of the used oil properly. Start by opening the hood and removing the plastic cover from above the engine. Near the oil dipstick, just above the alternator, is the location of the oil filter, which is of the immersion type. Unscrew the plastic cap, extract the old cartridge, and insert the new one along with the O-rings. Then, lift the car to access the oil pan and unscrew the drain plug located on the side. Once the oil is drained, screw the plug back in and fill the engine with new oil until it reaches the maximum level.
