Instructions for Replacing the Alternator

Model: Volvo S80 - Years 1998-2006

When the alternator fails, the battery charge warning light illuminates on the dashboard: you must replace it as soon as possible since the remaining mileage is limited to the battery's capacity. Before proceeding with the alternator removal, disconnect the battery; remove the intake manifold hose for easier access to the auxiliary belt tensioner and loosen it by sliding off the belt. Then, unscrew the fixing bolts of the power steering pump and move the various hoses to gain free access to the alternator. Disconnect the cables attached to it and the fixing bolts to remove it from its position and install the new one (it is recommended to choose a refurbished product). Proceed in reverse for installation, also replacing the auxiliary belt.
