Replacing a Faulty Alternator

Model: Volvo S70 MK 1 - Years 1996-2000

Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and move the cable away. Open the bonnet and drain the cooling system to remove the connection pipe located above the alternator. Lift the vehicle on a ramp and begin unscrewing the screws located underneath, then lower the vehicle and proceed from the bonnet with those on top. Once the alternator is freed from the mounts and the belt, unclip it and pull it upwards to extract it from its housing. This operation is difficult and requires the removal of some components to create the necessary space for extraction. After removing the faulty alternator, proceed with the reverse operations to replace it with the new component. Adjust the tensioner and fit the new belt. Set the correct tension. Restore the cooling system.
