How to Change the Engine Oil on a Yamaha R1

To change the engine oil on a Yamaha R1, start by warming up the engine for a few minutes to make the oil more fluid and easier to drain. Once warmed, turn off the engine and place the bike on a stable centre or side stand.

Position a container under the oil drain plug, located at the bottom of the engine. Use a spanner to unscrew the plug and let the used oil drain completely.

Wait a few minutes for all the oil to exit, then replace the drain plug, tightening it carefully to avoid leaks. At this point, use a funnel to pour the new oil into the engine through the filler cap. Pour slowly, ensuring you do not exceed the amount recommended in the bike's manual.

Once filling is complete, close the filler cap and start the engine to circulate the new oil. Leave the engine running for a few minutes, then turn it off, checking for any leaks.
