How to Change the Oil and Oil Filter on Acura TLX

To change the oil and oil filter on the Acura TLX, start by opening the hood. Lift it up, and remove the oil filler cap. Go under the car, remove the aluminum oil pan cover by unscrewing the screws. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the oil drain bolt and let the oil drain into a container placed underneath. Clean the oil drain bolt and reinstall it, tightening it to a pressure of 30 ft-lbs, after cleaning its seating. Next, still under the car, use the appropriate wrench to unscrew the oil filter, letting the oil drain into a container. Take the new oil filter, apply new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter, and screw it back in after cleaning its seating. Then, reinstall the aluminum oil pan cover by screwing in the screws. Now, go to the top of the engine, remove the oil filler cap, and pour in the specified quarts of oil. When you are close to the indicated quarts, remove the oil dipstick, reinsert it, and pull it out again to check the oil level. If the level is at max, the oil quantity is fine; otherwise, top it off. Finally, run the engine for a few minutes.
