How to retrieve the wheel bolts of the Alfa Romeo 75.

What is illustrated in the video is a very clever but "extreme" procedure to recover the wheel bolts of an Alfa Romeo 75. It is a last resort when the bolt is broken and the thread is still in the hub. The broken pin is drilled with a 5mm bit, and the outer part of the pin is cut "flush," leaving only the head of the original bolt accessible. At this point, it is possible to remove the old bolt. The recovered head of the old bolt is internally threaded with a 6mm tap. Strong adhesive is applied to the thread of the new pin, and the pin is then tightly screwed into the original head that has been threaded to M6; subsequently, the adhesive cures, fusing the two pieces into one. The bolt is painted and protected with a clear coat to prevent rust, as the cutting and threading operation has removed the original zinc coating. This is an example of great manual skill, on a vehicle that is likely not used on the road due to the poor reliability (from a safety perspective) of such a solution.
