First, get inside the car and with a flat screwdriver or something sharp, pry off the cap of the gear knob; then, using a 10 mm socket, remove the central nut of the knob and pull it off upwards. At this point, remove the spring underneath and fit the new gear knob, inserting the spring and the knob; then tighten the screw and replace the cap!
