How to Replace the Diesel Filter on an Alfa Romeo 159

The diesel filter for this car model is also equipped with a water separation device that can be drained through a tap located at the bottom, and there is also a sensor to detect its presence; replacing it is a straightforward DIY task: once you open the engine bay, the filter is located at the rear, just behind the oil level dipstick housing; disconnect the pipes and connectors attached to the filter and remove the supporting plate; once on the bench, unscrew the old filter and screw in the new one, lubricating the seals before attaching the sensor at the bottom and proceeding in reverse for reassembly; before starting the engine, turn the ignition on and off several times to allow the low-pressure pump to fill the filter.
