Operation: How to replace the diesel filter on Alfa Romeo 159

The diesel filter for this car model is also equipped with a device for separating the water that can be discharged through a tap applied to the bottom and there is also a sensor capable of detecting its presence; replacing it is an operation that can be easily carried out do it yourself: once the engine compartment is open, the filter is located in the rear part, immediately behind the seat of the oil level control stick; then disconnect the pipes and sockets connected to the filter and remove the relative support plate; once on the bench, unscrew the old filter and screw the new one, lubricating the gaskets and then apply the sensor on the bottom and proceed backwards for assembly; before starting the engine, turn the panel on and off several times to allow the low pressure pump to fill the filter.

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes.
