In this video we see what ODIS (Offboard Diagnostic Information System) component protection is: it is a database of components of the Volkswagen/Audi group, which tracks every single electronic component and the vehicle to which it is assigned. Essentially, it functions as an electronic lock that ties the vehicle components together. This lock must be opened if we need to code, customize, or set a component, and this is where the ODIS system comes into play, which encodes and decodes control units.
