What to do when the steering wheel lock does not turn

For this video we are using an Audi car, but the steering wheel lock works in the same way on all cars; its main function is to prevent potential thieves from stealing the car, because once inserted, it locks the steering wheel, making it impossible to maneuver the car. It may happen that when we put the key in the ignition to start, it doesn't turn because of the steering wheel lock: in fact, the steering wheel doesn't even turn. How do we solve this unpleasant situation? We have to turn the steering wheel slightly, so that it doesn't lock in the opposite direction and at the same time turn the key. This way the steering wheel lock unlocks and we can start.
