Steering Wheel Replacement on an Audi A3

The first step to disassemble a steering wheel is always to disconnect the airbag. Using a Torx key, unscrew the rear screws on the steering wheel that hold the central cover in place where the safety device is located. You can then lift it carefully and disconnect the airbag cable. At this point, in the centre of the steering wheel, there will be a large screw anchoring the wheel to its shaft. Once removed, this will allow you to take off the steering wheel. During reassembly, pay attention to the two notches on the wheel and the shaft that indicate the correct positioning.
