To replace the shift knob on an Audi A4 B6, open the retaining clips that secure the bottom of the leather cover to the central console. Once the clips are removed, lift the leather cover completely to expose the internal part of the lever. There will be a hook that secures the knob to the lever: remove the hook to allow the knob to be pulled off. At this point, the new knob with its cover can be positioned over the lever and connected to the hook. Finally, insert the clips for the bottom of the cover into their designated slots.
