How to Replace the Glow Plugs on an Audi A3

Learn how to replace the glow plugs on the Audi A3 engine. Open the bonnet, remove the cover from the centre of the engine, take off the oil cap, disconnect the return pipe from the intake, and using a 10mm spanner, remove the brackets securing the metal pipes. Remove the timing cover. Using a T30 socket, unscrew the seven screws from the rocker cover and take it off, then use pliers to disconnect the glow plug connectors. To unscrew the old glow plugs, use a long 8mm socket, replace them with four new ones, and reconnect the connectors. Remove the old gasket from the cover and replace it with a new one, refit the cover and tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern, reattach the timing cover, bolt the brackets for the metal pipes back on, reconnect the return pipe, replace the oil cap, and refit the cover.
