Replacing the Car Alternator

Model: Audi A4 B6 - Years 2000-2004
Part: Alternator

The alternator is one of the most important parts of a car's electrical system. It must always be perfectly efficient, as a malfunction could cause serious problems for the battery. Replacing it requires some manual skill. The following guide shows you how to do it. Park the vehicle on a flat surface in a safe location, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery cable corresponding to the negative terminal to avoid accidental sparks. At this point, locate the alternator and take a few minutes to memorize its position relative to the other parts. You will see a belt that goes over the pulley connecting to the alternator. Choose the correct size wrench and remove the belt that secures it to the engine block. Unscrew all the screws that hold the alternator, and rotate the belt tensioner by loosening the tensioner bolt. The rotation should be minimal, just enough to slide the alternator out.

How to Remove the Interior Light of a Mini

Remove the interior light of a Mini: use a screwdriver or plastic lever to pry between the cover and the light itself (avoid damaging the headlining), pull the cover out from the panel and disconnect the power connector after removing it. Replace the damaged bulb with a new one (same size and voltage). Refit the light into its housing (push it in with your hands until the metal clips are fully locked). Test the light's functionality before completely refitting the piece.
