How to replace the rear brake pads of the Audi A3

In this article, you will learn how to replace the rear brake pads of the Audi A3 1st series. The tools required are: jack or ramp, wire brush, 13mm and 15mm spanners, brake paste, grease, brake cleaner, and a socket for the nuts. To replace the brakes, first open the bonnet and unscrew the cap of the brake fluid reservoir, then close the bonnet and lift the rear to raise the wheel and remove the fixing bolts using a 17mm socket. It is advisable to lift it using a jack or ramp to secure the vehicle on a support. After removing the wheel, use a crowbar or the appropriate tool to separate the brake pads, then clean the brake caliper mounting points using a wire brush and brake cleaner. Wait a few minutes, then unscrew the caliper attachment. At this point, remove the brake caliper, clean the brake support using brake cleaner and the wire brush, press the caliper piston back using a brake piston retractor, then install the new brake pads, refit the calipers, and close everything by reinserting the previously removed blocks. Once the brake is correctly installed, remount the wheel and reinsert the fixing bolts.
