How to Replace the Gear Knob on an Audi A3

To replace the gear knob on an Audi A3, start by lifting the gaiter of the gear lever. Gently pull the gaiter upwards to disengage it from the centre console, taking care not to damage the fastening clips.

Once the gaiter is lifted, you will notice a retaining ring or clip holding the gear knob in place. Use a screwdriver or pliers to loosen and remove the ring or clip.

With the retaining ring removed, you can pull the knob upwards to detach it from the gear lever. Take the new knob and position it on the lever, ensuring it is well aligned.

Refit the retaining ring or clip to secure the new knob in place. Finally, reposition the gaiter over the gear lever, pressing it down until it securely clips onto the centre console.

Check that the new knob is securely fitted and that the gear lever operates smoothly.
