A reversing camera has become an essential accessory on our vehicles, and if an older car doesn't have one, you can install it yourself. Here's how on an Audi A3 8V: this one without a control unit, the original Audi part, can be found on effeerrevag.com for £350.00. Remove the glove compartment to access the MMI; connect it temporarily to verify its correct operation, then remove the internal cover of the boot to pass the cable through, routing it underneath and then along the door sills until you reach the main connection with the MMI. Remove the glove compartment for a tidy job, then run the cable along the sills, exiting from the corner of the boot, into the carpet, and then through the rubber grommet to the tailgate area, reaching the number plate where you will position the reversing camera; test its operation before closing all the plastic covers.
