Let's see how to remove the headrests of the BMW X5: we need to go to the rear side of the front seat (driver or passenger) and remove the cover of the top part of the seat itself, at its rear. This can be done by levering with a plastic spatula and then removing the clips by pulling towards us. Once the top part is removed, we do the same with the bottom part of the seat cover, so we have plenty of space, now we see that the headrest is held by plastic clips with a metal lock on each side; we remove it and then remove the electrical connector located on one side of the headrest.

At this point, we can pull it up from the top and we are done.
