How to Reset the Airbag Light on a BMW 3 Series

Today, you will learn how to reset the airbag light on a BMW 3 Series vehicle, model E46. One possible cause for the light being on is a completely dead vehicle battery. In these cases, you need to connect the vehicle's battery to a second battery. Connect the positive terminal to the positive cable and the negative terminal to a metal part of the secondary battery. After waiting for the battery to charge, connect a scanning device to the vehicle's OBD port. Access the D2 Reader app to scan the vehicle and understand how to proceed with resetting the light. The scan results indicate that it is necessary to replace the airbag fuse, so open the fuse box located behind the glove compartment on the passenger side. The fuse to replace is number 11, rated at 10 Amperes. After replacing the fuse, restart the instrument cluster to check if the light has been reset. If the light remains active on the instrument cluster upon ignition, you will need to perform a second diagnosis or use a diagnostic computer to reset the light via the OBD port. The diagnostic computer we will use is the Ansel BM700. Select the car model and production year to follow the procedure for resetting the light.
