This operation can be done independently but requires attention, as the battery location varies based on options and production year: the most likely location for models from 2017 onwards is in the trunk, by removing the left side trim to access the compartment. However, it may also be located under the headliner near the shark fin antenna, as shown in the video. In this case, remove the rubber seal of the tailgate, take out the two plastic clips that secure the rear headliner, and lower it slightly: behind the first metal reinforcement bar, you will find the battery. The model needed for our F46 has the code 2 447 710, and it can be found on Amazon with the code B0D6WWGRNZ for $34.09 plus $2.30 shipping. The error message must be cleared using a BMW diagnostic tool.
