How to Remove a Shark Fin Antenna from the Roof of a BMW

Removing a shark fin antenna from a BMW is a delicate but feasible operation; it is important to act with patience and the right tools to avoid scratching the roof. You will need masking tape, a 10 mm socket spanner with an extension, a ratchet, a clean cloth, and a craft knife. Clean the area around the antenna well, apply strips of masking tape around the base of the antenna to form a protective frame. If the antenna is adhesive, carefully run a craft knife around the body of the antenna to detach it from the base. Remove the rubber seal and then slightly lift the interior roof trim panel to see the antenna cable entering inside. Unscrew the threaded stud that goes into the roof by turning it counterclockwise. It is advisable to have someone help hold the base of the antenna from above. Once the nut is loosened, you can pull off the antenna along with its cable.
