Let's see how to check the oil level on a BMW X3 and then reset the service light: the same procedure applies to the X6 of the same period. The oil check is entirely electronic: briefly press the "BC" button located near the speedometer and look for the "oil level" option.

If the level is correct, the display will show the message "oil level ok". After changing the oil, turn on the ignition, press and hold the BC button for a few seconds until the display shows "reset oil?". Release and press the BC button again, holding it until the checkmark or the message "oil reset complete" appears.
