How to Access the Rear Bulbs on the BMW X2

On the BMW X2, to replace a rear bulb, there is no internal access door: you need to remove the entire light assembly. Start by removing the plastic cover above the tail light by releasing the side clips. Then, using a flat tool, pry to remove the vertical panel. Locate the two 10 mm nuts that secure the tail light and unscrew them. Gently pull the light assembly outward to remove it. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Inspect the contacts: they often oxidize or melt due to heat. If the contacts are damaged, you can try scraping the melted plastic to restore contact, saving the cost of a new tail light. If the restoration works, reassemble the tail light by aligning the locating pins, tighten the nuts, and reinstall the covers.
