Before you start, open the door of your BMW 3 Series. Begin by prying and removing the inserts from the door panel, using a thin but sturdy tool.

Next, unscrew and remove all the screws that secure the door panel to the door itself, which will free the door panel. At this point, pry and remove the door panel from its housing, then disconnect the electrical plug and the handle cable.

Once you have disconnected the various electrical plugs and the handle cable, the disassembly will be complete.
