How to Remove the Brake Light Switch on the BMW E36

Model: BMW Serie 3 E36 - Years 1990-2001

This guide shows how to replace the brake light switch on the BMW E36. First, pull the driver's seat back and remove the plastic cover under the steering column to expose the wiring and the brake light switch located at the end of the brake pedal. With the pedal fully pressed, pull out the red pin and, using a screwdriver as a lever, remove the sensor. Disconnect the old sensor from the power cable and replace it with the new brake light sensor. Reinstall it and close the plastic cover. Before hitting the road, check the proper functioning of the signal lights.
