Generally, the differential oil (depending on the models) should be replaced every 5 to 8 years unless you hear suspicious noises or experience any malfunction during shifting; in this case, it is recommended to replace it immediately. Normally, the cost of the fluid is around $50 to $60, but it greatly depends on the brand you choose to purchase.

To replace it, first, drain the old oil by unscrewing the upper plug and then the lower one. After reattaching the lower plug, as shown in the video, insert the new oil until it starts to overflow. Finally, also close the upper plug (with the correct torque) and you're done.
