If you want to replace the interior trim of your BMW 5 Series, you must first deal with the panel located at the top of the door. It is attached with clips to the frame that holds the trim itself.

Once detached, you will also need to remove the entire inner door panel. The images show the position of the clips for the chrome frame and how to attach them correctly.

Once positioned with the clips aligned to the holes, you will need to apply some pressure to secure the attachment. It will not be completely stable until the upper inner door panel is reinstalled.
