BMW Serie 5 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Electric fan
Operation: Cooling fan clutch replacement

Rear-wheel drive sedans with a longitudinal engine generally use the energy of the crankshaft to spin the cooling fan. Obviously, however, the rotation of the fan must be proportional and regulated according to the temperature of the coolant. Therefore the fan has a hub with a clutch inside which makes the fan more or less integral with the motor motion depending on the temperature. Consequently, if you have overheating problems or, on the contrary, low temperatures, even at the level of air conditioning in the passenger compartment, it may be necessary to replace the fan clutch. Then once the fan has been disassembled, unscrew the three Allen screws. Take advantage of this for a general cleaning and reposition the central hub in the center of the cooling blades.
