BMW Serie 3 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 3 F30, F31 - Years 2012-2019
Part: Brake pads
Operation: How to replace the front brake pads in a BMW F30

In this tutorial we are shown how to replace the front brake pads in a BMW F30. The initial step will be to remove the caliper stop and then the pins present with an 8mm Allen key. At this point, with a flat screwdriver we pry the pad in order to free the brake caliper and be able to extract it. Now we can remove the pad from the piston but remember that first we must have removed the sensor which in this case will be on the driver's side. Then we will proceed with the cleaning of the bracket; using an old pad as a support with special equipment we will push the piston up to the seal and then we will have to fit the sensor into the inner side of the pad. Using a copper paste we will have to lubricate in the points indicated in the photo and at this point we can place the new pads, first the internal one and then the external one. Now we position the caliper on the support, tighten the pins and put the caps back in place and reassemble the caliper stop. Finally we connect the sensor cable to the connector. We remind you that before starting the car it will be advisable to press the brake a couple of times and reset the pad interval.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
