To replace the remote battery of a BMW 3 Series, first slide the key out from the top of the remote. Once the key is removed, use an object to pry open the groove that divides the two halves of the remote: when it is opened, you can remove the battery from the green chip it is placed on and replace it with a new spare part.

After replacing the battery, insert it back onto the chip and place everything inside the remote, which will be closed by reinserting the key.
