To replace the BMW X1 key fob battery, which is a CR2032, follow these steps: First, press the button on the side and pull the bottom part of the key to extract the emergency key. Once the emergency key is out, use it to pry off the back cover of the fob. After removing the cover, you will have access to the key fob battery. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the old battery. Once the old battery is removed, insert the new one. After inserting the new battery, replace the cover by pressing it down gently with your fingers to secure it, and reinsert the emergency key into the bottom of the fob.
