How to Change the Key Fob Battery on a BMW X1

To change the battery in the key fob of a BMW X1, take the key and press the side button to extract the emergency mechanical key. Using the tip of the key or a small flathead screwdriver, pry in the slot on the edge of the fob to separate the two halves of the shell. Once open, locate the button battery and gently remove it from its seat. Insert the new battery of the same type, ensuring to respect the indicated polarity. Close the fob by pressing the two parts together until they click, and reinsert the mechanical key. Check the proper functioning of the buttons.
