Installing Cylinder Head Fastening Pins

When performing a repair that requires removing the cylinder head, it is always advisable to use a new gasket kit and a new set of fastening pins during reassembly. Start by cleaning the threads of the holes with a tap of the appropriate diameter and pitch, ensuring that no chips fall into the cylinders. Then position the new gasket and the cylinder head, apply copper grease to the bottom of the threads and just under the heads of the new pins, and proceed with tightening in a cross pattern using both a torque wrench and a beam wrench.
