How to Replace the Automatic Shift Lever on the BMW X5 E70

This guide shows how to replace the automatic shift lever on the BMW X5 E70. The first step is to remove the trim plate around the shifter using a plastic trim tool. Using a Torx T30 screwdriver, remove the four screws securing the shift lever and take out the assembly. At this point, disconnect the electrical cables for the lever and replace it with a new one. Reinstall the shift lever assembly in position and check the proper operation of the transmission before reinstalling the decorative cover. Finally, if everything works correctly, reinstall the trim plate.
