Antifreeze is a liquid additive primarily used for combustion engines, designed to prevent a specific liquid from solidifying when exposed to low temperatures. The most common antifreeze types are for engine coolant, fuel, and windshield washer fluid.

Synthetic antifreeze lowers the freezing point of the liquid it is mixed with due to the phenomenon of cryoscopic lowering. In European countries, the percentage of antifreeze in the coolant varies from a minimum of 30% (30% antifreeze and 70% demineralized water) to a maximum of 60% (60% antifreeze and 40% demineralized water).

Checking the quality of the liquid involves verifying the mixing percentage using a hydrometer like the one shown in the video: insert the tube into the container, draw liquid with the pump, and check the position of the needle.
