Replacing the Automatic Shift Knob on BMW X1 E84

If you think it's time to replace the automatic shift knob on your BMW X1 E84, this video provides all the instructions in a few simple steps that will allow you to perform the operation independently. First, place the transmission in neutral and remove the old knob by pulling it firmly upwards, then detach the fabric boot by unclipping it from the edges. Make sure to correctly disconnect the two electrical connections from the boot. Some aftermarket shift knobs, like the one in the video, have the connections directly on the knob instead of the boot, so ensure you reconnect the wires correctly (following the colors) to the new terminals. After that, perform the assembly in reverse, securing the boot first and inserting the shift rod into the designated housing.
