In this video, we see how finally, even car manufacturers (in this case, BMW for the X1 with the 7DTC400 transmission) have included the periodic replacement of automatic transmission oil in the iDrive maintenance system, although with a very long interval (in this example at 110,000 km). This, however, eliminates any "myth" about its uselessness. It is, in fact, a fundamental maintenance task: the oil we see in the video is very dark and worn, demonstrating that after many kilometers, it loses its lubricating and protective properties. Changing it is therefore crucial for the health and longevity of the component. The replacement procedure is simple: the two drain screws located under the transmission are unscrewed, and the filling can be done from the top, through the oil vent cap located under the air filter (without the need for special tools from below). The maintenance counter reset is done directly from the BMW instrument panel, without the need for diagnostic tools.
