As seen in this tutorial, replacing the armrest in the BMW 3 Series E46 is an extremely simple and quick operation. First, go to the back seat, then remove the ashtray located at the end of the center console.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws positioned at the base. Next, remove the entire plastic frame, grab the return springs of the armrest with pliers, and disconnect them.

Finally, extract the two pins, position the replacement, and reassemble everything by simply following the reverse procedure.
