In many BMW models, the transmission boot is the snap-in support located under the vehicle's transmission. First, remove the upper part of the transmission. You can do this by pulling it upward, as it is snap-fitted onto the underlying structure. Next, proceed to remove the other snap-in pieces, and finally, the lever in question. It is held in place by the pressure of three tabs. Be careful not to break them. However, the operation is quite simple overall, and you do not need any special tools.
