Firstly, it was due to the fact that, being a dual-fuel vehicle (petrol/LPG), the previous owner had neglected maintenance (as often happens with these dual-fuel systems). A problem was then found with the cylinder head, necessitating the replacement of not only the gasket but the entire head, sourced from a used parts supplier. Since the car continued to emit a lot of black smoke, it was ultimately discovered that the issue was with the catalytic converter, which contained some truly terrible contaminants. Once cleaned, the vehicle returned to proper functioning: these are the main reasons for the smoke emitted from the exhaust.
