How to Replace the Key Battery on a Citroen

Model: Citroen C3 Pluriel - Years 2003-2010

On Citroen vehicles, the key fob uses a shell that opens with a small catch. To work neatly, open the key blade and locate the groove on the edge of the remote, near the end. Gently insert a small cutting tool (preferably plastic, or a very thin screwdriver) and give a slight twist to unclip the clips without forcing: the goal is to separate the two shells without marking the plastic. Once the Citroen remote is open, access the battery compartment: the visible battery is a CR2032 3V. Before replacing it, check the polarity indicated (the “+” must remain in the same direction during reassembly). If you need to remove the battery, avoid prying on the metal contacts with force: it’s better to act on the edge of the battery just enough to free it from the holder, and then insert the new CR2032 respecting the orientation. Close the Citroen key shell by aligning the two sides and pressing until you hear the clips engage. Finally, check that the key opens/closes correctly and that the remote buttons work.
